Guidelines for Induction
In order to qualify as a SCE&M Hall of Fame inductee, candidates must meet very specific criteria.
Candidates:
| Are judged on the degree of contribution to the advancement of the music and entertainment industry. |
| Must have either been born in South Carolina, currently live in South Carolina, or have lived in South Carolina at some time during their career. |
| Must achieve definitive leadership in some aspect of the music and entertainment industry. |
| May represent a specific sphere of influence such as songwriting or publishing, be a musician, recording artist, actor, or a person behind the scenes such as an agent or producer. |
| Are not required to be active in the music and entertainment industry for a minimal amount of time, but when possible and practical, preference is given to seniority and stature. |
| Must have an inspirational effect on others while significantly impacting the music and entertainment industry. |
| Are expected to practice the highest caliber of professional conduct and cannot have a substantial negative effect on the public image of the music and entertainment industry. |
| Companies, publications, radio stations and other such businesses are not eligible. Nominees are selected as individuals or as a group of two or more persons. |

Posthumous (people who have died)
Pioneer (dedicated to innovators in SC Entertainment & Music.
Three nominees in each category are selected for final discussion.
